  • Collaborated with the CEO and team to develop and grow a new business that will change the way matting companies operate by introducing a RFID asset tracking program (Smart Mat) for more transparent billing and customer satisfaction.

Unique contributions to HeroX:

  • Worked with the CEO to implement the company’s stock option plan.
  • Lead the process to work with the third party legal team to close and process all documents for the first round of funding.
  • Developed processes and procedures to ensure the compliance of Canadian and US tax laws for the corporation implementing a successful transfer pricing program.

Distrix Networks Ltd.

Spark Integration Technologies develops innovative and cost-effective software solutions for remote infrastructure monitoring, network management, and integration over IP and non-IP based networks.

Unique contributions to Distrix:

  • Identified key issues with the company’s stock option plan and worked with external auditors to ensure that all valuation and reporting were in compliance with new IFRS standards.
  • Implemented a month-end process to break out cost of sales to determine margins on sales and projects.
  • Worked with the Vice President of Strategy to develop a comprehensive forecast model to monitor cash levels and ensure the business was on track with revenue projections and expenses.
  • Prepared all year end working papers and financial statements for the year end audit including the estimation of the scientific research and development tax credits.

DST Subserveo, Inc.

VP, Financial Operations - Feb 2011- March 2012

DST Subserveo provides automated compliance and surveillance solutions to Retail and Institutional Broker-Dealers, as well as Wealth Management and RIA firms.

  • Provided financial guidance and support to the CEO for the successful sale of the business to a large US public company (DST Systems Inc.).  Integration of the financial systems was completed in 3 months.
  • Developed and implemented more professional and value added monthly financial reports for the Board of Directors and senior management.
  • Identified key issues with previous year’s financial statements and worked with external auditors to correct and restate financial statements.
  • Collaborated with the CEO, CTO, and the VP of sales to develop the Subserveo SAAS service and determine accurate cost of sales.
  • Developed a process to file successful Scientific Research and Experimental Development tax credits that also resulted in lower fees for the preparation of the annual tax return
  • Managed all reporting requirements for the shareholder Eligible Capital Investment program.

A key member of the senior management team that transformed a small private biotech company into a publicly traded company on the Nasdaq (OGXI).

  • Assisted in the raising of both private and public rounds of financing to ensure the company had sufficient operating capital.
  • Responsible for the transition of the financial reporting from Canadian GAAP to US GAAP.
  • Responsible for the review of all public company financial reporting.
